About our Drive

The Holiday Gift Drive is Fostering Wishes’ signature program, designed to bring joy and warmth to foster children during the holiday season.

Each year, we collaborate with businesses and the community to provide gifts, ensuring every foster child receives something special just for them. But the gifts represent more than material items—they carry a message that these children are remembered, valued, and cared for, even in challenging times. The Holiday Gift Drive offers more than presents; it fosters hope, connection, and a sense of belonging, making the holidays brighter for hundreds of foster children each year.

How You Can Take Part

There are many ways to make a difference in the Holiday Gift Drive — whether by giving a gift or giving your time.

Volunteer Your Time (>>sign up here)

  • Tree Preparation – Help fluff branches, check lights, and ready trees for display (early–mid November).

  • Tree Delivery – Drive trees from our Alamo headquarters to partner locations in Danville, Walnut Creek, and San Ramon (Mon–Wed before Thanksgiving).

  • Tree Installation – Set up and decorate trees at partner businesses to make them festive and welcoming (Mon–Wed before Thanksgiving).

  • Gift Sorting – Organize and track donations to make sure every child’s gift is accounted for (late November–mid December).

  • Gift Pick-Up – Collect gifts from partner locations and bring them back to Alamo headquarters.

Every action counts — whether you give a gift, volunteer for a shift, or both, you’re helping foster kids feel seen, valued, and celebrated this holiday season.
